Pastor Gary Rounsavall – Gary is the founding pastor of Solano Valley Church and a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary. He has been married to his wife, Joy, for over 25 years. They have three kids that they are hugely proud of: Caleb, Casady, and Faith. On his day off Gary and Joy like to drive the back way to Napa for lunch. He also enjoys bike riding in Gordon Valley and Suisun Valley, exploring places he’s never been, and is a huge Arkansas Razorback fan.
Associate Pastor Matt Skinner (Worship/Students)–
After meeting Pastor Gary and Joy through mutual friends, Matt began serving as a volunteer worship leader at SVC in 1994. He came on staff full-time in 2003 and give leadership to our worship and student ministries (middle/high school). He’s originally from Long Beach, Mississippi, but moved to Fairfield when he was nineteen and became a follower of Christ shortly thereafter while attending First Baptist Church.
He met his wife Carolyn – a Fairfield native – at First Baptist. Carolyn is a gifted speaker and teacher of God’s Word, and an incredible wife and mother. They’ve been married since 1995 and have two wonderful daughters, Lauren and Katie, who make life rich and fun. He is a blessed man!
These are a few of his favorite things: guitars, reading, Elvis, hanging out with his family and friends, Costco samples, concerts, coffee, Lake Tahoe, Magnum PI reruns, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New Orleans Saints. Who dat!
Favorite Verse: “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13-14)
Favorite Quote: “When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, all is lost.” (Billy Graham)
Christie Dorman (Director of Children’s Ministries)- Christie and her husband, Lee, have been married for 16 years and have five children. Christie has been attending Solano Valley Church since the end of 2004. She’s been involved in some aspect of Children’s Ministry for most of that time. In 2014, Lee was medically retired from the Air Force and the entire family moved back to their home state of Texas. It was a rough transition for them to find their place in civilian life. They were thrilled to move back to Fairfield in April of 2015. Christie became the Children’s Director in August of that year. She also home schools all of her children except her oldest, who attends Vacaville Christian School. She enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, playing games, Bible journaling, her paper planner, reading, coffee, and pajamas. She has learned it’s ok not to be perfect and tries giving herself and others lots of grace.
Heather Peterson (Administrative Assistant)- Heather joined Solano Valley Church in 2014 when she married her husband, Cory whom she met while they were both attending Biola University. While Cory went on to enlist in the Air Force as a KC-10 Boom Operator stationed at Travis Air Force Base, Heather finished getting her B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Biblical Studies before joining him in Fairfield. Since then, Heather has worked at NewsRadio KFBK as a reporter, producer, and editor. She works as SVC’s Administrative Assistant which allows her more time to spend raising their family’s newest addition, Dylan, who was born in August 2017. Heather enjoys spending time with friends, playing board games, hiking, going to the beach, reading, watching TV, and going to the movies.
Tessa Valle (Bookkeeping)-is a reformed endurance athlete. She’s completed cycling and running events of various distances and has even completed a half-iron man. Currently her favorite events are Netflix marathons. Tessa has attended SVC since 2006 and serves as our Bookkeeper. She and her husband, Andrew, have two daughters – Lauren and Elisa. She also has a step-daughter, Andrea, a son-in-law, Brandon, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. Tessa still loves a challenge, but now a-days it’s more along the lines of yoga and hula dancing.
